Re-purposed Banana Stand House Plant Holder
January 14, 2015
My re-purpose project today begins with a thrift shop, $2, oak banana stand. These are relatively easy to find at thrift shops.
First I gave the banana stand a couple coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White. I distressed it a bit with sand paper.
I decided to add a garden image from the Graphics Fairy using the Mod Podge Image Transfer Method. The Graphics Fairy Mod Podge image transfer to wood method is here.
I planted a small variegated hoya or wax plant in a small vintage-look bucket. The hoyas at my house grow slowly but are quite trouble free, even growing in low light conditions.
Of course I added some clear wax to protect my banana stand and the image transfer.
This is a fun and easy decor idea! You could use faux succulents if you don't want to bother with a live plant. I found this little vintage look pail with the number "7" on it at a floral shop. The project cost is about $10 or under, depending upon the cost of your pail, and faux or real house plant.

Hey that's my nana stand that I sent off a few years ago, give it back I like it now!
ReplyDeleteThis is really neat. I will opt for faux plant when I find my stand.

What a great repurposing project! That sweet little bucket looks a whole lot better than a bunch of bananas. Love the the graphic transfer too. Thanks Carlene for sharing at VIParty.
