Rummage Sale Clock Repurpose
April 22, 2017
My project today begins with a homemade wooden clock face that I purchased at a rummage sale for $1.
First I base coated the clock in black with Rust-Oleum American Accents 1/2 Pint Latex Satin in Canyon Black. My top coat is my new favorite chalk paint Chiffon Cream by Rustoleum. Chiffon Cream is not one of Rustoleum Chalked's pre-mixed colors so you have it mixed at Menards or other source.
After two coats of Chiffon Cream, I lightly distressed the clock along the edges, grooves and center sections with 220 grit sandpaper.
I just received this Decoart Mandala Americana Decor Stencil 18x18 from Amazon. I have a smaller one that I got from the Home Depot. This larger size is perfect for a round table or in my case a new sign.
I used Delta Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint in Walnut Noyer for my stencil color. I sealed my sign with several light coats of Krylon Satin Finish. I may reapply during the summer months to keep my Mandala protected.
Here is the finished Mandala stenciled on the painted rummage sale clock face. The Mandala sign replaces a white metal star that I have had hanging on the gate for a few years now.
This is the star from last year's garden tour.
I like the change.
I shared this vignette with you recently with my cutting board hang tag.
I decided to try this twig swag above my vignette. (bad iphone photo). The swag didn't show up too well.
I think the swag looks so much better with the white paint.
