Buffalo Check A Farmhouse Style Toolbox
April 07, 2018
It's hard to say that this is my "Before" photo. I got this toolbox about 7 years ago at a local craft shop.
The shop owner was very talented.
Besides wanting a change, the toolbox became mildew stained one winter in our old shed. Our shed needed a new roof.
Anyway, I gave this toolbox, a makeover.
First I base coated the toolbox with Rustoleum Canyon Black latex satin paint.
Next, I brushed on two coats of Chalked Paint in Chiffon Cream.
I wet distressed the chalk paint with a damp tee shirt rag, revealing areas of the black paint.

I then pulled out my favorite stencil EVER, *Old Sign Stencils Buffalo Check.
I stenciled buffalo checks on both ends of the toolbox with Deco Art Chalky Finish Paint in Rouge.
I added a rooster from this Hobby Lobby farm animal stencil with Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint in Black.
I sealed the toolbox with Varathane Water Based Satin Polyurethane.
As you can see it matches my child's chair makeover. I think these two pieces will be part of my summer covered patio decor!

I also stenciled "Farm" from the Farmers' Market stencil to the long side of the toolbox.
Just put a piece of tape after the "M" on your stencil so you can stencil a clean line.
*Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary samples.
All opinions about these fabulous products are my own.
