Junk Finds at the Consignment Shops

December 14, 2011
I live in a very isolated, small town in Northern Minnesota.  There is limited shopping locally but on my days off I have to check out the consignment stores.  (Also on my lunch hours, but I have less time)  This assortment is my haul from yesterday.  A vintage Hallmark pillar candle in near mint condition in the box.  I didn't see a date on the box but the name of the candle is "Ancient Map".  As a former ebayer, I had to check to see if the candle was worth anything but I couldn't find one on ebay or on the internet anywhere.  Anyway, it's really vintage looking so I think I will keep it and use it.  I also picked up the fancy gold tapers still in the box, three sort of plain angel ornaments and the white angel taper candle decorations.  They were marked made in Japan so they have been around awhile.  I also brought home the ugly green painted terra cotta trees and the white cherub pillar candle holder.

The angel taper decorations got tossed in the suitcase vignette for now, but I'm sure they will pop up in other displays as I like angels.

Next up was trying to fill a shadow box I purchased last Saturday at a local primitive shop.  They fit, so let's try a paint job.
This will have to do for this Christmas.  A little paint, metal buttons and stars and clip art sheet music for "Hark the Herald Angels Sing".  The box has lots of possibilities and will pop up again with other contents.

Between Naps on the Porch

The fancy gold taper candles were added to this mirrored shadow box that also has gold pinecones.  I can never get a decent photo of this mirror.  Always glare with a flash, and too dark without. If you look hard you can make out greenery peeking out of the blue willow creamer.
I did repaint the white cherub pillar candle holder a creamy white but haven't put it into my decor yet.
