Isn't She Lovely?
May 05, 2012
Just found her yesterday at the consignment thrift store for $10. No chips or cracks but some minor scratches.
She's a beautiful vintage hand painted lady portrait plate marked "Made in Germany". She will soon join my collection covered in a previous post (http://organizedclutterqueen.blogspot.com/2011/12/pretty-lady-portrait-plates.html)
Isn't he handsome? (If you like powdered wigs, maybe)
Although, President Washington is also a portrait plate, he will not join the ladies. I purchased him for my Americana or blue and white plate collection. I think this plate is quite rare according to Replacements Ltd.
It is marked Grecian by Ridgway, England. I think it is considered flow blue.
This plate was also $10, but unfortunately it had this little chip and some crazing.
The chip is very shallow and small and not visible from the front of the plate.
I also picked up this little Waverley Shaving Mug for a buck. No damage.
I purchased this old chippy and a little grubby white painted three leg half moon table for $15. (No it's not fall here, we haven't put out our patio furniture and cleaned up the leaves here in Minnesota yet. Just mowed our lawn for the first time yesterday)
Real chipping, old white, semi gloss enamel, (not sand paper distressed).
Nice scalloped top.
I have had a good week of thrifting and collecting!

Carlene, those were some real finds! I can't wait to see what you do with your plates and your table.
ReplyDeleteI have a table like that.....and it is also white.
ReplyDeleteNice plates.....you could tough George up very easily.
Hvae a good Sunday.
I actually like crazing on plates. I collect animal plates...birds, horses, tigers...etc.

Hi Carlene: Great finds. Looks like you had a very successful day. I love Georgie Boy..Happy Weekend..Judy
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine how many hours went into that hand painted plate?! Love that shaving mug, too. I used to have a collection of shaving brushes, but unfortunately I gave them to one of our daughters in a moment of madness! Cute chippy table. I'm so glad I'm not alone in my wait to "get planting". Don't you feel like we've been left behind in the dust when all the other bloggers have been gardening for months already?!!
ReplyDeleteThat portrait plate is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteNice finds. I love that table...chips and all! Creatively yours, Lori
