I Heart Head Vases
January 18, 2013
I am not working at the furniture store today. I should be doing a little cleaning, but instead I have been putting together Valentine's Day vignettes. This one is on my coffee table on a silver plate tray.
My favorite head vase is an ebay purchase of about $100. I just had to have her. She is everything I look for in head vases, long eyelashes, style and plenty of charm. She has a vintage red ladies' silk scarf in her head vase.
I just added a couple of books, a red oil lamp, a silver heart tray, a doily and a heart necklace.

This little head vase on the other hand was 25 cents at the Salvation Army Thrift Shop. She is in perfect condition but is missing an earring. I have stuck a red doily in her head vase. (The Salvation Army Thrift Shop in our town had to close a few years ago, because it's garbage bill for junk and garbage that didn't sell was more than its profits.)

It's a subtle Valentine's Day vignette. Just some red and a couple hearts.
Sharing is caring
I also get distracted by vignetting if that is a word:} Love the vases. I do not run into them here.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your beautiful head vases! I have been very tempted to start a collection.
ReplyDeleteThe ones I've seen run from $35.-$50. bucks.
So pretty Carlene! I love head vases too but don't own any. I'm waiting for one of the 25cent ones to appear! :)
ReplyDeleteNow those are so darn cute and that darling vignette with the ice tray and the kisses is so darling. We had those ice trays when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteI think this is my favorite of the Valentine's Day vignettes so far. I {heart} head vases. I can't get enough of these. Still don't own even one., but I'm on the look out.

What a fanciful little collection you have. I think they are so interesting. The red peaking thru the holes in her hat ...is vibrant!

Hi Carlene, I love head vases, my first was a child in a Christmas hat. Still have that one (still my favorite too) and have added many more 'ladies' over the years. Loved seeing your head vases in your Valentines Vignette.

These are so sweet...and they go so well with the pillow I spied in the backgound on the couch!
ReplyDeleteI love your head vases. I have a few of those myself. You have inspired me with your post to get my valentine girl planters out for a valentine display. Your display looks so cute! I might as well enjoy my cuties this time of year too.

Oh, how lovely! Your vignette is charming. I am getting ready to soon sell the sophisticated lady headvase on eBay myself. She is lovely, but I have bills that are due to pay, like my car insurance, so I am selling my collection there. I did a search and found your blog. I am going to borrow your great idea to display her, hope I have a red hankie in my collection of girly things to add. thanks for sharing, pretty_presentations
ReplyDeleteYou do have a wonderful collection of head vases! Too bad that thrift store had to close. I think some people use thrifts as a dumping ground.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the scarf and doily in these vases. They look like part of the hats. Pretty V'tine vignette. laurie
ReplyDeleteThese bring back such memories. My mother in low used collect them. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI received my first head vase from my husband's Grandmother and thought it was so pretty. Since then, I've added to my collection. I love to fill them with Azaleas in the springtime!
ReplyDeleteYour vases are lovely and I'm so glad I got to see them.
What a great vignette! I have a small collection fo head vases too that I never even display. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteLove your head vases! I could see why you'd have to buy that larger one. . it's gorgeous! Even at $100. I'm sure it gives you much pleasure every time you look at it. This is a very pretty vignette.
ReplyDeleteI was just looking through old pictures from back home and saw a beautiful flower arrangment in a head vase! I sooooo....wish I had that vase today! You would have loved it - she wore dangly pearl earrings!
