A 70 Year Old Toy Easel Chalkboard
April 14, 2013
Even if I haven't been able to enjoy the outdoors yet due to the all the snow here in Minnesota, I sure have had fun thrifting and shopping lately. I found the old sink potting bench last week, and the old toaster and manual wringer last weekend.
This week my Mom was bringing this into a consignment shop to sell, but I stopped her. She was going to sell it for $25.
I took it home with me. It is a Kogol children's reversible easel chalkboard. My Mom bought some things to re-sell from a local lady who was downsizing. The lady told her it was 70 years old.
It's in pretty good shape.
It even had a chalk drawing on the reverse side.
I was kinda thinking about keeping it. I do have old toys in our family room/den.
What do you think? Is it a cool find? I think I would have to hang it on the wall so it didn't take up so much space.

I think I would keep it. Future kids will not know what a chalk board is.
ReplyDeleteI would keep it, of course. It is too cute! You can have a lot of fun with it! 25.00 would of been a real steal for someone else.
ReplyDeleteYour chalkboard is a terrific find, Carlene!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to find those in such good shape. Love it!

Keep it....I hung mine on a door inside our home.
ReplyDeleteSorry you are still living with snow, but looks like you are making the best of it. '-) Great finds!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of hanging it up, I'd try a kitchen wall and use it as a message center; put it back to work for a new generation!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a very cool find! Love it with your toys, too. I bought two blackboards this weekend but nothing like yours! They were more modern and the board was green instead of black. I rarely see one like yours!

Sweet save! I vote keep it.
ReplyDeleteHi Carlene, I saw your comment over at Silo Hill Farm and am looking forward to following you on Bloglovin. My Mom's name is Carlene, too, which is a very unusual name so of course I had to pop over! Have a wonderful week! ~Cindy@littlemisscelebration.com
ReplyDeleteIt's a keeper. I found a big green chalkboard in our garage. I am going to paint the board blck and use it for a sign somehow.
ReplyDeleteDo you even have to ask us? KEEP IT! I think it's very cool and so much you can do with it.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Amazing condition too!

Great finds, Carlene..I love your chalkboard and think it would be cute hanging on the wall. :)
ReplyDeleteI would keep it, of course, being a former schoolteacher. But what I want to know is: what kind of doll is that? I love her! I had a similar doll when I was small.
ReplyDeleteIt IS very cool, Carlene...and I think it would be a perfect message board, too!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a keeper to me for sure! Where will you ever find another one?
ReplyDeletehugs, Linda

Oh yes! Carlene, you have to keep that. It is wonderful! If you're not going to keep it, send it to me, and I'll send your mother a check. laurie
ReplyDeleteCarlene ... just love that chalkboard. It will make a great wall-hanging. Blessings, Audrey Z. @ Timeless Treasures
ReplyDeleteI love it Carlene!
ReplyDeleteI would keep it for sure.
We still have snow. This has been the most awful of springs.
Or should I say what spring?
But I did see a robin yesterday hopping along the snow.
Hope!
Cindy
A definite find! Love that it has the ABC's on it. I remember those and think they have special appeal!
