My Laundry Themed Old Chippy Wheelbarrow 2013

June 30, 2013
My garage sale $15 chippy wheelbarrow has served me well over my years of gardening.  I always have a couple old galvanized laundry tubs on board filled with annuals, and this year is no exception.

I'm not sure if you remember the old wringer I purchased earlier this year for $8.  That was the plan all along, to use it in the garden attached to a laundry tub.

And in keeping with the laundry theme, I planted in a vintage laundry stomper, and stuck the handle in the dirt.

That's sweet alyssum in the stomper.  (I used a nail to put holes in the metal part of the stomper for drainage.)

Three colors of Calibrachoa are planted in the wringer tub in yellow, red and purple, and the back tub has heliotrope, and nicotiana.

I'm so glad I found the wringer! (I sealed it with Thompson's Water Seal so it lasts for a few years.  It's helped keep the wheelbarrow in service for about 15 years)

Previous wheelbarrow plantings are here, and here.

I have heard that Google (Friend Connect) Reader is going away July 1st. (That's TOMORROW)  If you haven't started following me by Facebook, email, or Bloglovin', please do so!  Thanks!

  5. I love your wheel barrow! You always know just what to do with the cool stuff you find and that wringer and laundry stomper are no exception. So cool! Heavy sigh when I saw the nicotiana....it was my favorite plant in Montana. We don't have it here and it's so gorgeous. Carlene..your yard is so gorgeous..you should open a B&B and just let people wander around your yard!

  7. Oh your flowers are amazing. Our heat here is taking a toll on my yard. I am just going to wait to plant anymore until the end of summer.

  11. This is Really cute! I think we have an old tub somewhere that I might add flowers to. Do you leave the tubs out even when the flower blooms go away?
