Quick Garden Pics from a Professional Photographer
September 01, 2013
I am a blogger with a point and shoot camera. A Canon SX230HS. It takes decent photos.

A neighbor of mine, (who takes photos professionally) did a quick tour of my flower gardens and yard, and emailed me the photos. When I say quick, I mean in about 5 minutes with her kids and dog along and not a lot of photos!
I asked her to email me the photos and she did. I think they are a lower resolution for email but I thought it was interesting to see the difference between her camera and mine. I like the lighting of the more expensive camera.

Thanks for looking at more garden photos!

The lighting may be better on the professional ones but you can reproduce that in software. TBH I actually prefer your photos because I think you take from a more interesting angle.
ReplyDeleteHonestly you do not need to worry about your abilities or the fact that you have a point and shoot camera.
I use a P&S as I prefer it to my DSLR that i ended up selling as I never used.
Greta piccies all round :)
I think yours are just as gorgeous Carlene- really I do - you could always darken the edges like she did!!!
ReplyDeleteBut more than that your garden just leaves me in awe!
And makes me realize I desperately need a decent camera!
XOXO
I'll be pinning these if you're looking for me!

Hers has really good color but yours are good too. You can add some more vibrance and color in editor like with picmonkey cause yours really are good too. Do you edit yours at all. I didn't use to but now I try and do it when I have time cause they look better I think. I have a canon rebel but just the lowest level one.
ReplyDeleteCarlene, I really like yours better than the ones the photographer took.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.

I saw something the other day that I thought you would like. I couldn't get a picture but wish I had. It was an old red lawnmower with flowers planted in it. So you. I loved it.
ReplyDeleteYours are just as good, in my opinion. If you're interested in enhancing yours, you can always use a free program like Picasa. It will enhance your colors, create the vignette effect, and much more. It's a free download.
ReplyDeleteI think your photos are more interesting in the angle and the way you feature certain items in the vignettes. It is interesting to see the difference, but it does mean one is better than the other. I'm with Suzan above - I will be pinning our pics to my garden board!
ReplyDeleteThey are all gorgeous, but then your garden is fabulous in any picture. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteYou know I could look at photos of your garden all day long...I don't care who took them!! They all look great!
ReplyDeleteOK, when I first read this I got the Hers and Mine backwards and I had to go back and double check. No offense to the professional photographer, but I am not impressed. She must only do portrait work because the photos are very much just a straight on shot and not interesting. Your photos have much better angles and are composed much better so they pull you in.
ReplyDeleteIf you like the brighter look - she would have done that in her computer program by upping the contrast and saturation. Photos straight out of a DSLR normally are a littler flatter than straight out of a point and shoot, because the point and shoot is making corrections for you. Your photos are a little softer in color and that is also a look that people try to achieve in their computer programs. It's just a matter of taste.
Now that I wrote a book - I think yours are better.
Yes, the pro pics are bright, sharp and clear, but I prefer that your pics are real - just as we would see your garden up close. I'm somewhat opposed to the artificial intensity... As good as they are, her pics would mislead the viewer, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI love your garden!
I just discovered your blog this morning via another blog and I apologize for not remembering which one. I'll go back after we return from church and find out which one so you can give that blogger credit and Thanks. Oh, I love all your unique "junking items" and signs! We live in a gated, Sr. Citizens community where there are a lot of rules and regs..which we knew about before we moved here. It's times like seeing your blog that I miss our former home and yard. Wished I'd had the flowergardening knowledge those 27 years that I have now. I know what I like but don't know how to put it all together so that it doesn't look like hodgepodge.
ReplyDeleteI will look at your blog more closely this afternoon and will probably have some compliments and questions for you. I love what I have seen so far!
