Frames and Plates on the Mantel
February 02, 2014
In 2013, I really found some great frames at great prices while thrifting. I used three of them in my framed clipboard gallery wall HERE.
Today after arranging my cobalt blue vase collection into a vignette on my dining table, I decided to take down my Valentine's Day mantel, even before Valentine's Day. I think I needed a lift after all of this polar vortex weather here in northern Minnesota. My Valentine's mantel was a little dark. You can see it HERE.
Gold frames and various white frames, along with plates and a floral picture is just more uplifting. I love flowers!
The plates are hanging with plate hangers between the frames, and the frames are leaning against the wall. Except for the one above the picture, that frame is hanging on a nail.
Flowers always make me happy!

As much as I love plates, I can't believe I've not stuck one in a frame yet. I've pinned so many images, I'll add this one and I'll have to do this soon. Love the look!
ReplyDeleteHow fun, love the frames and the plates are such a surprise. Love it. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteGreat arrangement for your mantel. Your choice of frame shapes and sizes makes it.
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty and I like the little bit of red you added!
ReplyDeleteLove the mantle. Adore the frame. I'm so mad at myself. Spotted a great one, big and old and let it go. Ughhhhh. I know it will be gone when I get back. It was only $10. I would have paid $14 because I could have sold for $30. However, I had spent my limit and wasn't willing to put all my items back for one piece. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I love using frames in my decor. I'm kind of tired of my valentine mantel too, but will try to keep it up til then! Have a great week!

Your mantel looks bright and kind of spring like with your pretty floral picture, Carlene. I think we all need a bit of spring in our homes to cheer us up in the cold weather!
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks great!! Love the plates in the frames...so pretty!!
ReplyDeletehugs,

I love it, it's so pretty! I'm definitely going frame hunting soon!
ReplyDeleteLoved your Valentine mantel! Also love this one! :)
ReplyDeleteQuick question for you: When you put up things like the plates in the photo above, do you use nails? If so, how do you 'fix' the holes once you want to change out the display??
Thanks!!
use small nails. I have the living room paint on hand in the house to touch up nail holes. I don't usually have to spackle paint fills them! Thanks!
DeleteAwesome! Thank you for your help! Now to go find some 'living room paint'... :) :)
DeleteFlowers make me happy too! This winter I would settle for pictures of flowers!
ReplyDeleteCarlene, I love the way the plates are 'framed'! I can't wait for Spring and flowers! What a great way to get them early - the mantel looks wonderful. :)
ReplyDeleteCarlene this really looks great and I love that oval frame!!
ReplyDeleteCynthia
