Old Stuff That Is New To Me
February 23, 2014
I am constantly on the lookout for old stuff. Here are my newest "old" finds.
Not sure where it will end up, but for now it is atop my china cabinet.
I am still loving the Abraham Lincoln bookends I bought recently.
This dapper gentleman is a wood carving. I love his boots, red coattails, and monocle. Carver unknown!
A great old gardening book from the 1950's from Sunset.
Another gardening book, the Wise Garden Encyclopedia from the 1950's sits on a shelf in my desk's hutch.
Also some great old cookbooks: Betty Crocker's Easy Entertaining Guide.
This Good Housekeeping Everyday Cook Book copyright 1909.
Culinary Arts Institute Encyclopedia Cookbook copyright 1950.
My Bettter Homes and Gardens Cookbook eleventh printing 1935.
The Cordon Bleu Cook Book 1951.
St Peter's Guild Cook Book La Grange, Oregon, 1925.
I am painting my kitchen soon and will be changing and/or the wall decor. I hope to use some of these great old cookbooks in my displays.
I also picked up two more vintage clipboards for $1 each. Since these have a laminate top over the hardboard, I may paint them with chalkboard paint.
I also got this quadruple plated Aurora brides basket. I found that one of my cloches fit on top pretty well. I have more polishing to do, but doesn't it have a beautiful pattern around the edge?
There is still lots of snow and cold weather here but I am working on some spring projects. Hope to show you soon!

Have a great start to the new week.

What fun "new to you's".
ReplyDeleteMy favorite are the little wooden juggling pieces. I love to use wooden game pieces in vignettes.
I love the 50s design of the Western Garden Book. I love old books too.
ReplyDeleteI love your Infant Jesus statue.
Carlene, you find great things. The monogram on the walking stick is gorgeous, and I think the Lincoln bookends make a great vignette. Enjoy your Sunday!
