My 2014 Garden Highlights

August 13, 2014
My front yard flower border had a banner year in 2014.  Spring started out very late, cool and super wet, but somehow the extra moisture together with a late season warm up, produced a very lush garden bed.

Laundry tub of nasturiums.

Late season bloomers.

Fuchsias also thrived on the extra moisture and cooler temps.

Fuchsias and mimulus in the bucket.

The potting sink on the patio with the white picket fence and flower box in new in 2014.

The year of the fuchsia.

Impatiens were slow to take off but ended the season healthy and beautiful.

One of my favorite summer vignettes was all contained in this red crate.  Even the little ivy filled out nicely outdoors.

The crate was well protected on the covered patio.

Lots of unusual junk container gardens lined the sides of the deck.

Succulents and junk.

Pansies in a half barrel on the deck also loved the cool summer.

The old wagon boards and a galvanized pail became a great deck planter.  What will I come up with next year?

I hope you enjoyed my 2014 flower gardens and junk too!

  7. What a beautiful garden you have! I love the assortment of flowers and they do have nice blooms. This year is so good for flowers and produce alike. I'm seeing a lot of gardens benefitting from it and yours is just the prime example. I love the rustic vibe of the red crate, by the way. Thank you for sharing such awesome pictures and outdoor decor ideas!
