Repurposed Tea Strainer Christmas Tree Ornaments
October 22, 2014
Here are a couple more inexpensive ideas for Christmas decorating with things you have around the house. Today I am re-purposing tea strainers as tree ornaments.
I drilled a hole in the top of the strainer handle for a jute holder and another into the strainer opener tab. I used the hole in the strainer opener tab to add jump rings with a miniature blue & white transferware child's tea set creamer, an enamelware "25" tag (Tim Holtz collection), a jingle bell and a plastic snowflake.
These are jump rings. They are normally used in jewelry making. Use two needle nosed pliers to close the ends up tight.
The ornament hangs from a piece of jute.
For this tea strainer, I formed a jump ring out of wire to go through two of the holes near the bottom.
Then I added another jump ring with a snowflake, and a jump ring with a small jingle bell to the bottom.
I am displaying my new ornaments on an outdoor spruce tree!
