Neutral Rustic Decor in the Foyer

January 26, 2015
Welcome to my foyer!  This wall vignette is the very first thing you see when you enter the front door.

You may remember this from Christmas in the foyer here.  This was the first time I had revealed the foyer since repainting it in November.

This shelf was re-purposed from a dresser mirror frame here.

The cream colored plaque above the shutter was actually a dark stained decorative panel from a piece of furniture.  I have had two of them for years.  Black and white photos of my kids, grandkids and granddog decorate the shutter and hang from clothespins and jute from the shelf.

My walls are painted in Sherwin Williams "Dover White".  The accessories are painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in "Cream" or "French Linen".  The shutter was stained with a mixture of steel wool and white vinegar.  The plant in the vintage figural swan planter is a hoya.

The flower pictures are vintage Turner prints.

I just purchased this pillow at TJ Maxx last Saturday!

I have an old pew painted white under my neutral wall vignette.

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Fun! We have some shutters from closet doors we took down. I'm still thinking of how to use them. I like what you did by using yours for a photo display. Nice job! Love the shelf too!
