Vintage Clothes Hanger Re-purpose

April 05, 2015
Now that my children's grad photos are displayed in barn wood frames, I was no longer using this 8" x 10" wooden frame.  I had painted this frame, a while back, with Rustoleum American Accents Paint in "Heirloom White".

For my new project, I re-painted the frame with a black flat paint.

Then I distressed the frame with 100 grit sandpaper, leaving a very light wood stain (along with a little Heirloom White paint) in the distressed areas.

I used a Varathane Touch Up Marker in Dark Walnut to darken the distressed areas of the frame.

I like a darker stain with the black paint.

I added a black and white photo of a little girl riding a pony at a carnival (circa 1960) to my frame.

I added a metal tag holder to a vintage wooden hanger with nails.  "1960" was printed in Special Elite font from Picmonkey onto card stock, cut out, and slid into the metal holder.

Two eye hooks were added to the top of the frame and to the bottom of the hanger, and the hooks were tied together with jute twine.

I hung the vintage hanger/frame holder on a wall in my 3/4 bath.

I have other vintage hangers on the walls of my 3/4 bath too.

I love old clothes hangers on the wall!
