Sewing Machine Drawers Re-purposed As Plant Holder
May 03, 2015
I purchased these two vintage sewing machine drawers at the consignment shop recently for $10. Usually these drawers are just sold individually, but these two came with part of the sewing machine cabinet.
First I painted the outside of the drawers and the rack with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in "Old White".
After I "wet distressed" the pieces with a wet terry rag, I applied clear wax.
I checked my recycling bin and found four Healthy Choice soup cans. I washed them and removed the labels.
I stuck faux pots of greenery in each can for this paint project reveal, but I plan to fill the cans with real live plants in mid to late May.
I will display my sewing drawer planter outside on my covered patio, so the drawers will be protected from rain.
I love these sewing machine drawers for plants!
The upcycled/repurposed sewing machine drawers ended up on my covered patio with ferns from Home Depot in the tin cans in the top drawer!
And then on to my dining table in the winter!

love it!!

I can't remember ever having come across one of these drawers - so I have sewing machine drawer envy. You seem to find them readily. A typically gorgeous result from Carlene!
