More Thrift Shop Makeovers and Coat Hooks & Grain Sack Stripes
February 08, 2016
This was my first thrift shop makeover of the week. A maple stain wooden magazine rack.
The MAKEOVER and how I did it:
1. I painted the magazine rack with Fusion Mineral Paint in Algonquin. (Seriously, I only needed one coat and no waxing, priming or topcoats.)
2. I purchased a two pack of chalkboard tags from Target's Dollar Spot.
3. I stenciled the Fleur De Lis and "1812" from Andy Skinner Decoart French Stencil.
4. I waxed the chalkboard stencil with clear wax to protect it.
Thrift shop makeover two started with this dark brown stained shelf.
The MAKEOVER and how I did it:
1. I painted the shelf with two coats of Decoart Chalky Finish Paint in "Lace".
2. I stenciled on a black grain sack stripe with Old Sign Stencils Hot Cocoa stencil extra.
3. I distressed the shelf with 100 grit sandpaper on the edges and 220 on the inside areas.
4. I waxed the piece with Americana Decor creamy white wax.
5. I purchased a some value wood 1" x 4"'s from Menards and painted a matching wall hook board.
6. I added 3 sale hooks from Menards in a nickel finiah.
7. I added two sawtooth hangers to the backs of the both the shelf and hook board.

Other projects I completed this week with more value boards, Old Sign Stencils, hooks and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in "Country Gray".
Happy Upcycling and Repurposing this week, everyone!
