Christmas Junk Project Favs Blog Hop
December 17, 2017
Welcome to the Junkers' United 2017 Christmas Junk Favs Blog Hop! Join me and four other bloggers as we share our FAVORITE Christmas Junk!
My HO HO HO sign started as a country prim thrift shop find last week. The letters were connected by wire.
First I cut the wire and took all the letters apart.
I then gave them two coats of Chalked Light Tint Base Paint Mixed as Vintage Ivory. Chalked is an Annie Sloan knock off paint made by Rustoleum. I like the product.
This is a 1" x 6' x 4" Dog Eared Cedar Picket that I purchased locally at Menards.
I cut 18 inches off the bottom of my rough sawn picket, and then stained it with Varathane Stain in Dark Walnut .
I sanded the picket edges and center with 100 grit sandpaper.
Then I pulled out the *Old Sign Stencils Buffalo Check Stencil (my favorite) and stenciled onto the the vintage ivory painted letters with Deco Art Chalky Finish Paint in Rouge,
*Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary samples.
All opinions about these fabulous products are my own.
I then sanded the stenciling very lightly with 220 grit sandpaper and faux distressed the edges with FolkArt Layering Wood Block and Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint in Walnut Noyer.
I nailed the letters onto my board, and used the *Old Sign Stencils Winter Graphics Stencil to add two snowflakes to my picket in between the Ho Ho Hos.
I added a sawtooth hanger on the back for hanging.

Here's the finished sign that started out with primitive country style wood letters.
Here I leaned my sign up against an outside wall on my covered patio.
Now for my favs:
My Sleigh Rides rustic Christmas sign started out as a $5 green and torn window screen.
My faux printers' tray drawer Christmas Sign began as a Goodwill Mancala board purchase.
The Old Sign Stencils You Cut Tree Farm stencil and a flea market frame with star cutout came together in a fun Christmas sign.
I also used the YOU CUT tree farm theme on my covered patio decor, here.
I kicked off my Buffalo Check Christmas decor with this stenciled metal minnow bucket.
The Christmas shelf tree began life as a wooden corner shelf. I love this Christmas tree repurpose project.
Would you have guessed this was a thrift shop paper towel holder before it became Christmas Decor?
This little chair proves that you can find cool stuff at the thrift shops. All it needed was some stenciling to become awesome Christmas decor.
Wooden salad plates from the thrift shop were transformed with paint and stencils.
Thrift shop frames and chicken wire unite for a fun Christmas tree card holder!
A thrift shop spice rack, paint and stencils make a great little shelf for a chubby snowman and bottle brush trees!
My Scrabble tile framed Christmas tree is my readers' favorite Organized Clutter Christmas project.

You have inspired me so much to look at thrift store items through the lens of stencils and paint. What fantastic transformations. My favorite...I am not sure I can pick, but I think the spice rack, or the chair, or the ho-ho-ho, or... Merry Christmas Carlene!
