Free Table Upcycle With Dixie Belle Paint in Caviar
August 14, 2018
As you probably know, I moved my mother to assisted living last month.
My mom always loved rummage sales and thrift shops, and even better free stuff. This little table was given to her by one of the other tenants.
I am giving it an upcycle!
I will be using my new FAVORITE black, Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint in Caviar.
There's a lot to love about the price, coverage and zero VOC's with Dixie Belle Paint. I am fairly new to the product.
First I brushed on two coats of Dixie Belle Paint in Caviar.
I pulled out a small paisley stencil that I had purchased at Walmart very inexpensively.
It was just about the right size for my table.
I stenciled the paisley design with Ceramcoat craft paint in white.
After my stencil was dry, I decided to try out Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax.
Although I have used a lot of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in the past, I always hated the wax.
It was very hard, in my opinion, to get even. I avoided the wax by using water based polyurethane as a substitute. Sometimes however, wax is the perfect finish.
I didn't use a wax brush with the Best Dang Wax, I actually used a rag from an old tee shirt to apply it. I let it dry, about 20 minutes, and rubbed the table down with another dry tee shirt rag.
The wax is very low sheen but just look how it deepens the paint color!
Wax is totally a personal preference, Dixie Belle Paint need not be sealed at all. It is very durable after the 30 day cure time.
It's a cute little display piece.
Or even a night stand in a small bedroom.
Don't you think?
I hope you see possibilities in someone else's little cast offs!
*Dixie Belle Paint Company provided me with complimentary samples, but all opinions about these fabulous products are my own.
