I purchased this white lantern for $4 at the Littlefork Citywide Garage Sales last summer.
This little lantern is from a Kalalou whitewashed lantern set, still for sale on Amazon. The pair sells for $169.95.
There was nothing wrong with it, and I recognized it as a Kalalou lantern, and I knew it was pricey.
I brought it home with my other purchases, and did nothing with it for months. I asked my youngest daughter if she wanted it for her place, but she said, "Not really".
Last week, I decided to give the little lantern a new look...

I pulled out this Winter Graphics Stencil from *Old Sign Stencils, along with Fusion Mineral Paint in Champlain for the stenciling.
The snowflakes are in three sizes. I added all three on the front and back, and one small one on each side.
Use both blue tape AND your fingers to hold the stencil flat while pouncing.

Fusion Mineral Paint works quite well on glass. Just make sure to use a pretty dry brush, and do a second coat if necessary.
If you do get any bleed under the stencil, use a razor blade to carefully scrape off the paint.
I used one of the stencils from my FolkArt Holiday Value Stencil Pack for the word "Snow". One of the Christmas trees in the pack had the phrase "Let It Snow".
I stenciled on the word "Snow" with black craft paint.

I filled my lantern with flameless candles with a wax coating.
The lantern has a tag on the bottom that says to use flameless candles only.
The whole front opens on the lantern as it is hinged on the side.
My daughter wants the lantern now! LOL!
I don't blame her, it will be great for Christmas AND all winter long in Minnesota.
You can use these stencils over and over and over again!
*Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary samples.
All opinions about these fabulous products are my own.

So cute like it is ... BUT so versatile too ... you could add some greenery/leaves/flowers and a small objects for the different seasons.
ReplyDeleteI love those candles and have a group of five. Just replaced the batteries, but they lasted a long time. You are so talented.
Hugs,
