Easy Stenciled Snowflake DIY Decor
November 02, 2018
I purchased these wooden purse handles at a consignment shop several years ago.
I think I paid $2.
One of the purse handles holds a Minnesota hotdish towel in my kitchen!
Today the other purse handle will appear in a "use what you have" Christmas/winter decor project.

First, I measured the width of the slot in the purse handle, and ripped a long rectangle of coarse muslin to that width.
The length of the muslin was about 24".
The length of the muslin was about 24".
Here, I have my muslin rectangle folded in half lengthwise, laying on a piece of HeatnBond Lite Iron-On Adhesive (fusible web).
Since the muslin is a lightweight fabric, I ironed HeatnBond to one half of the fabric. This will give the fabric some stiffness.

Next, I threaded the muslin through the slot on my purse handle.
After I peeled off the paper backing, I ironed the left side of the muslin onto the right side.
Directions are on the HeatnBond package.
Next I pulled out my *Old Sign Stencils Winter Graphics stencil to add some snowflakes to my fabric.
I randomly stenciled snowflakes on the muslin using Fusion Mineral Paint in Coal Black.
*Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary samples.
All opinions about these fabulous products are my own.
Fusion Mineral Paint works well as a fabric stencil paint.
I have stenciled with Fusion Mineral Paint on t-shirts, and it has held up well in the wash. Don't iron directly on the paint. Iron with a pressing cloth, or from the backside.
The snowflake muslin wall hanging will work on the wall, or on a hook, along with other neutral toned Christmas and/or everyday decor.
I purchased this little felted wool reindeer today at a local drug store. It's so cute.
I used an extra one of these Menard's (local home improvement center) mini garden flags from last summer for another simple project.
One of the mini flag holders became this canvas houseplant pick last spring.
I used a scrap of canvas fabric to stencil a snowflake pick for my houseplant.
Snowflake decor need not be taken down right after Christmas here in Minnesota!!!!!
I will share my new and old Christmas decor just before Christmas so you can see how it all comes together in my house.
