In September, I upcycled this round oak table with paint and a buffalo check stencil for my daughter's townhouse.
It was an extra table from my mom's move into her assisted living apartment.
My daughter loved the upcycle.
At first, my daughter used this white coffee table from her old apartment.
But after everything was moved in, it proved to be "just too big" for the space.
I had my mom's small oval coffee table on hand.
My mom now uses a walker, and the coffee table didn't work in her new apartment.

The table was in excellent condition, but it needed a makeover to fit it with the townhouse's farmhouse style.
I was concerned about stain bleed through on a white piece again, so I base coated the coffee table with Dixie Belle Paint Company's Boss in Clear. "Boss" is an excellent stain and odor blocker, and also works for stain bleed through on light colored paints.
I brushed on two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth. I love this shade of white.

I am going to add the stencil on the diagonal.
I have positioned the stencil in the center of the table, and taped it in place with blue painter's tape.

I then moved the stencil up, down, right and left to continue the pattern on the entire table top.
Make sure to align the stencil properly.
I sealed the top of the coffee table with Dixie Belle Paint Company Gator Hide, a great finish for coffee tables as it is very tough, and water resistant. I used Dixie Belle Paint Company Clear Coat in Satin to seal the legs and bottom shelf.
Dixie Belle Paint can be used without any topcoat, however, waxes and/or clear coats can be used to add durability or special effects.

It will be very cute in her townhouse with the black leather sofa!
I have been wanting to publish a round up of all of my buffalo check projects for a while now, and finally finished it today.
The round up contains everyday home decor, furniture, garden and outdoor decor, and holiday decor!
