Re-Purposed Cabinet Door Christmas Sign with Target Jingle Bells
December 02, 2018
I still have quite a few cabinet display doors that I purchased last spring for $3-$5 each at my local Menard's.
I am thinking of a Christmas project today!

I base coated this door with Rust-Oleum Chalked Paint in Chiffon Cream. I sometimes mix Chiffon Cream with Rust-Oleum Chalked Paint in Linen White, as one is a little too creamy and one is a little too white, but today I base coated in the Chiffon Cream and top coated in Linen White.
When I distress with 220 grit sandpaper, both whites will be somewhat visible, along with the cabinet door stain color.

I purchased this Believe Christmas Stencil at Home Depot online.
I was going to stencil some pillow covers for a church craft sale, and I decided to give this one a try.
If you want more information on the pillow cover project, the details can be found HERE.
Since the cabinet door had a raised center panel, I had to extend the bell's string to have it reach to the flatter outer frame.
I used Fusion Mineral Paint in Coal Black to stencil the lettering and string, and DecoArt Chalky Finish Paint in Rouge for the bell.
After I finished distressing with 220 grit sandpaper, I sealed the cabinet door sign with two coats of Varathane Water-Based Polyurethane in Satin Finish.
I added a sawtooth hanger to the back.
I decided my sign needed something, but not the greenery from the stencil.
I remembered I had purchased a 4 pack of Target Wondershop red jingle bells last month.
The strings were jute colored so I painted them with Ceramcoat black craft paint.
I think that's just what my sign needed!
I always strive to use my stencils for MULTIPLE projects!
Cabinet doors make great signs.
