I found this vintage chair last summer at a garage sale for $4.
It has had some repairs on the spindles and needed a few more repairs as well with glue and clamps.

I painted the wooden chair with two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Hurricane Gray
I have become a big fan of Dixie Belle paint products. Dixie Belle's website has tutorials, FAQ's and even videos to help you get great results with all of its products.
*Dixie Belle Paint Company has provided me with complimentary paint products. All opinions about the products are my own.
I used to hate painting chairs with all the skinny spindles and legs, but not any more.
I now use the Zibra Grip-n-Glide 1-Inch Square Paint Brush. It spreads around the spindle or chair leg and gets three sides at once.
I used Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth to paint just the top front of my chair back.

If you follow my blog regularly, you know that I am a big fan of buffalo checks. So are my daughters, friends and most of the locals as well.
I have used this *Old Sign Stencils Buffalo Check stencil over and over again.
All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.
*Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary samples.
Here I taped the stencil on a diagonal over the Drop Cloth (off white) top of the chair back.
I stenciled on the buffalo check pattern with Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in CAVIAR (black).
Dixie Belle Paint, once cured in about 30 days, is durable without wax or a sealer.
Since my chair will not likely get used often as a dining chair, I wiped on Dixie Belle Best Dang Furniture Wax in Clear with an Intex Pfc-99972-50t Precision-fiber Paint & Cleaning Rag. These rags work well for wax application.
You can also use an old tee shirt. One rag to apply the wax and one to wipe it off.
Here is the chair back with my buffalo check stencil on the diagonal.
I like the gray, off white and black together on this chair.
This is a 12" x 20" pillow cover from Hobby Lobby. These covers come in three different sizes.
They are on sale for $3.49 this week at Hobby Lobby! If you miss the sale, they are half price at least one week per month.
The 12" x 20" pillow inserts are not available at Hobby Lobby. I purchased some feather/down blend inserts at Ballard Designs last year, but Ballard's no longer carries them.
I centered the stencil on the pillow cover, and taped it in place with blue painter's tape.
It's a good idea to place a piece of cardboard inside the pillow cover while stenciling in case the paint would bleed through the fabric.
I used Fusion Mineral Paint in Coal Black for stenciling on the pillow cover fabric.
Time for buffalo check overload, with the chair, pillow and rug.
I love to transform my garage sale and thrift shop finds into fun and inexpensive decor with paint and stencils!
I don't know how long the buffalo check fad will last, but I hope for a while!
