Grater/Slaw Cutter Photo Display Ideas
February 28, 2019
Do you believe in coincidence? I had a crazy coincidence yesterday.
I picked up these Rub-On Sentiments packages at the thrift shop. They are rub on transfer words that you rub with a Popsicle stick to adhere them to a surface.
Later that afternoon, I noticed this instagram post with graters and RUB ON transfers from q is for quandie.
Hmmm. I just found those rub on transfers!

Linda from quandie, also has a blog post with several repurposed graters HERE, and they are all fabulous.
I added my newly found thrift shop rub-on transfers to these two graters.
The directions said to cut about 1/8" around the words you plan to transfer. The first grater doesn't have a lot of room for words.
I cut out "hope believe dream inspire" to add to the grater. I peeled off the back and positioned my rub on.
I used the stick to make sure the entire transfer was stuck down. I picked up the corner of the top plastic to see if the lettering was all stuck down and all intact. If not, carefully put the plastic film down and rub with the stick a little more.
I added four more words to the top of the grater.
This photo, of my great grandpa, is one of my favorites.
I attached the photo with a magnet. Sometimes I use a magnet with a button hot glued on top.
I was able to use bigger words on this slaw cutter!
This little boy was my grandma's little brother.
I used a bulldog clip on this one, like Linda from quandie, but I didn't have any cool clips like she did!
Actually, if I did have any cool clips, I could not get to them or find them, as half of my house is getting new flooring this week, and stuff is all moved around!
The clip was too new looking, so I sanded it a little to take the shine down a bit.
I want to thank Linda, from q is for quandie, for her rub-on transfer inspiration!
****update- I added more rub ons to the slaw cutter and also added a rub on to the clip.
I have made several other photo holders from graters:
Next time you see a grater at the thrift shop, think photo holder!
Sharing is caring
Isn't it funny how sometimes you find just what you need at the thrift store?! Even rub-ons! I'm so glad I inspired you to add some words to your graters ;-) I have that same exact slaw grater, except I didn't know it was called that. Thanks for sharing Carlene :-)
