Vintage Commercial Paper Roll Holder Repurposed As A Houseplant Shelf
February 19, 2019
I thought this was a fun find when I purchased it for $5.49 at an antique shop.
Pieces were missing, but it was at one time a commercial large paper roll holder.

This project originally posted in September 2014, but I was never really happy with the my photos.
A 49 cent, 1" x 6" pine economy board from Menards was just the right size without any cutting, and was added to the top with screws.
Screws added on the underside.
I used a palm sander to round the edges and corners of the 1" x 6", just a bit.
I then brushed on a coat of flat black paint.
Then two coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White.
I distressed the edges, corners, and top surfaces a bit too, and then applied Annie Sloan's clear wax.
I attached felt pads to the bottom of the iron feet.
I placed the paper roll holder/plant shelf on the built in counter desk in my den.
This was a perfect place for houseplants by the window, but I was unable to get any good photos, let alone great ones.
So, today, I staged my paper roll/shelf against my faux shiplap wall.
Along with a new thrift shop purchase!
I paid $20 for this Royal vintage portable typewriter, in turquoise! It was in its original case.
I love adding buffalo checks to my vignettes and my home.
I think that buffalo checks add a degree of vintage "modern" to my antiques.
Finding the entire vintage paper roll holder would have been cool too, but the part I bought made a fun decor piece.
Thanks for visiting!

What a cool little stand! Love it's new look and it's perfect for a little plant stand. Love how you have it staged with the buffalo check.
