Hobby Lobby Easter Egg Yard Stake Farmhouse Style Repurpose
April 15, 2019
When I saw Susan from the Homeroad blog's Target Easter egg project, I remembered that I purchased one kind of like it at Hobby Lobby!
If you pick up a Target egg and want to make Susan's "Easter Blessings" egg, click on the link above. It's perfect hanging in a wreath!
This is my wooden Hobby Lobby egg.
It's marked as an Easter Craft Yard Stake. It's marked $2.99, (not on sale).

I brushed on a couple of coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in CAVIAR, my favorite matte black.
I used my Zibra Stubby Handle Paint Brush, that leaves almost NO brush strokes.
I distressed the egg/yard stake with sandpaper.
If you were expecting an Easter project, I apologize. I didn't decorate for Easter this year.
But, I did have this great rooster/chicken stencil from *Old Sign Stencils on hand.
The whole stencil didn't fit on the egg, but the rooster, 1932, Farm Blend and some grains, fit perfectly on the egg.
Because I had the Flour stencil as well from *Old Sign Stencils I used the smaller grain leaves.
I'm sure you could make the Farm Blend Grains leaves work as well, using just the stem and the top portion of the leaves.
*Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary samples.
All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.
I used Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth to stencil the lettering and Dixie Belle in Burlap for the grain leaves.
I'm going to use my egg stake in a houseplant.
I think it's a fun farmhouse project!

Carlene,
ReplyDeleteLove your egg stenciled. That can be used year round instead of just at Easter. Love it, and especially that it's "laid" in a pot! You have some great ideas and I love reading your blog!
