Stenciled Easter Egg Pickup Truck Sign
April 10, 2019
I purchased a set of four paper stencils from Joann Fabrics Online about a month ago.
I think I paid $8.99 plus shipping.
(When you click on the bold Amazon, Old Sign Stencils or Dixie Belle Paint Company affiliate links you will be taken to the products I use for this project. Here are the other three stencils in the package:
Stencil 2.
Stencil 3.
Stencil 4.
I see that this stencil set is no longer available online.
This is a similar set still available at Joann Fabrics Online, but no truck stencil...
To begin my Easter project, I base coated a birch plywood board with two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth.
I centered the stencil, and taped it on my base coated board with blue painter's tape.
I stenciled the truck with Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in CAVIAR.
The Easter eggs were stenciled with Ceramcoat Select Multi-Surface Paint in Cotton Candy, Ceramcoat Select in GP Purple, and Ceramcoat Select in Seafoam.
At first I stenciled the center egg with pale yellow. But I though it was too light, and sanded it off, touched it up and re-stenciled it.
When I was done stenciling, I waxed the sign with Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in Clear.
Since my board was square, and my stencil was rectangular, I moved the lettering up a little on Hippity Hoppity, and down a little on Happy Easter.
The frame is made from 1" x 2"s. The top and bottom boards are cut 2" longer than the side boards, and the boards are nailed to the plywood and ends of the frame.
I am going to give my sign to my daughter for her townhouse.
Thanks for visiting! Happy Stenciling!
