Easy Tobacco Basket Sign Project
July 03, 2019
I found this flat, white distressed, tobacco type basket at a garage sale. It was from Hobby Lobby, and still had it's Spring Shop tag.
I sent the basket home with my daughter who put together a cute little wall sign with it!

This was her inspiration piece at the local Hobby Lobby!
She found a similar Home Sweet Home wood shape at Hobby Lobby.
It fit perfectly in the basket bottom.
She also found an unfinished wooden Welcome word.
"Welcome" fit the basket on the diagonal.
My daughter had Rust-Oleum Chalked Paint in Charcoal on hand from a furniture project.
She brushed two coats of paint on the words.
She lightly distressed the edges with 220 grit sandpaper, and sealed the chalk paint with Varathane Water-Based Polyurethane in Satin Finish.
Sticky Velcro dots from Hobby Lobby held the wooden words in place.
The Velcro dots make it easy to change out the basket words!
The basket is perfect on a bedroom wall above the floor mirror.
Next, I will have to teach her to stencil!
Thanks for visiting!

Great deal on finding that basket for $3! I like the gray paint on the words. Your daughter gets an A+!
