A Shipping Crate Stenciled Throw Pillow
September 15, 2019
This shipping crate stamp stencil from *Old Sign Stencils is rapidly becoming one of my favorites!
I thought I would use it on a few plain crates, but instead I'm finding I love the stamps with some color.

This pillow cover from Hobby Lobby is normally priced at $4.99. I wait and stock up when pillow covers are 50% off, or purchase one with the everyday 40% one item discount.
First I pressed my pillow cover with the iron to remove the fold lines.
I use this child's cardboard tee shirt form from Hobby Lobby inside my pillow cover to protect the bottom side from paint bleeding through. Although the cardboard form is only $1.29, you can use a scrap of cardboard as well.
I taped the stencil onto my pillow cover with blue painter's tape. Measure to get it centered!
I used Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Colonel Mustard to stencil "Approved, Express and Up".
All prices on the Old Sign Stencils's website are listed in Canadian currency, but there is a handy conversion link for your convenience.

For the remainder of the stencil, I chose Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash.
Stenciling on fabric is really pretty easy. I dab and swirl my brush on my paper plate until it's pretty dry before I pounce and swirl my stencil brush on the pillow cover.
To protect the stencil, I use a piece of parchment paper over the stenciled area while I iron to set the paint.
I love the way my pillow cover turned out.
In fact I love it so much, I might have to keep...
Mustard is growing on me!
