Don't you love to find old drawers? I sure do.
This one is from a garage sale and cost me a whole 75 cents!

Four 2 " wood ball knobs from Hobby Lobby were added to the bottom of the drawer using four 3/16 x 2 Dowel Screws.
Since I wanted to paint the drawer with white chalk paint, I brushed on one coat of Rust-Oleum Zinsser Odorless Primer and Stain Blocker.
White chalk paint is notorious for stain or wood tannin bleed through.
White chalk paint is notorious for stain or wood tannin bleed through.
I don't like using oil based paints or primers, but this one is very ODORLESS. Much better than shellac based primers.
When the primer was dry, I started to paint the drawer with Rustoleum Chalked Paint in Linen White. Unfortunately, I started to see some bleed through on the unpainted raw wood areas.
Next, I brushed on two coats of another stain blocker, Dixie Belle Boss in Clear. Plan B.
The Boss did the trick, and I continued to paint the drawer with Chalked Paint in Linen White.
Have you spotted these adhesive stencil strips on the internet or Facebook? I found this one, Cornelle Garden on the Hobby Lobby website.
It's a 4" x 5 yd. stencil, and comes in a roll.
I stuck the stencil down on one side of the drawer. I just centered it on each side.
I did a combination of swirling and pouncing on the stencil with Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Bunker Hill Blue.
I decided to not distress the drawer with sandpaper after three layers of primer and two of paint.
I chose to faux distress the drawer with my FolkArt Layering Block. More info on the layering block HERE.
Do you like blue and white china? I really do. I used to collect it, and while I don't add to my collection, I don't get rid of any either.
Orange and blue, and also white look really great together!
This drawer/tray could be used for a number of container vignette ideas.
On a dining table filled with pumpkins, blue willow china, vintage decor, and/or even Christmas decor.
Have you upcycled any drawers?
Pin for later!
