Garage Sale Floating Frame Stenciled Succulent/Cactus Wall Art
October 10, 2019
I like this type of frame as they work well for stenciling on glass, similar to an old window.

I cleaned the glass and wood inserts, and outer frame.
I taped the stencil onto one of glass inserts.
(I used a ruler to center the stencil accurately.)
I pounced on about three coats of Fusion Mineral Paint in Coal Black. When stenciling on glass, several very light coats with a pretty dry brush works best to prevent stencil bleeds.
I brushed two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Vintage Duck Egg onto the outer frame, distressed it lightly with sandpaper and waxed it with Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in Clear.
I reassembled the frame with the stencil being between the glass inserts. The stenciling is protected and the glass will be easy to clean.
I threaded a jute string through the two sawtooths on the back of the frame to hang it on one nail, but it can be hung without the jute hanger.
So when you see floating frames at garage sales or thrift shops, be sure to pick them up!
The succulent cracker tray project details can be found HERE.
I upcycled the other floating frame in a flag project HERE.
