I live in a small northern Minnesota town with a small independent craft and hobby shop, a Kmart that's about to close (forever), a large Menard's home improvement store, a Dollar Tree, and a Dollar General. We also have a Family Dollar but I seldom shop there. Most of the chain stores are at least one hundred miles away.
Most of my local shopping is done at thrift shops, consignment shops, or garage sales. My blog is supply driven. I find something, and then find something to do with it.
My cousin gave me several 2 1/2" grapevine wreaths like the one above. They still had the price tags on them for 20 cents each.

Since it's almost Christmas, I repurposed the wreaths as Christmas tree ornaments.
Besides the small wreaths, I also used the Target Dollar Spot Cedar Sprigs, I purchased in Bemidji last weekend.
I also used berries from this $1 Dollar General candle ring.
I untwisted the wires around a clump of leaves and then also removed the leaves around the white berry wires.
I cut a smaller piece from the cedar sprigs and hot glued it to the bottom of one of the wreaths.
The berries, still on their wires, were both hot glued and the wires entwined into the wreath.
Next I cut out phrases from the black image transfer sheet in the Tim Holtz Christmas Remnant Rubs. I rubbed the phrase onto a piece of white card stock and cut it out. The small paper phrase was then glued onto the wreath with Aleene's Original "Tacky" Glue.
I also added a jute string hanger.
If you don't have image transfer Christmas rub ons, you can print out phrases on your ink jet printer with card stock.

Two of my wreath ornaments have berries, and two have snowflake buttons.
Cheap and easy, semi-homemade Christmas tree ornaments.
Thanks for visiting!

I love your little wreaths, Carlene. And I think Lorey's idea of using spare candle rings to make little wreaths is a great idea, too. I can't wait to see what you come up with next, Carlene.

ReplyDeleteI was thinking of napkin rings too. Not sure if they r the correct size, though. But this project is lovely
