Easy DIY Wooden Peg Snowman Christmas Tree Ornaments
December 04, 2019
Last month my aunt gave me a couple big bags of wooden craft parts.
This 10 pack is from Carlson Company, 3/4" x 2 1/4" Little Woman pegs. Similar wooden peg dolls are available on Etsy here.

This project was sooo easy! First I brushed on two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Fluff.
Next, I broke a toothpick in half and sanded smooth the broken end. I also pulled out an artist's brush.

I dipped the artist's brush hard tip (not the brush side) into a dab of Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint in Walnut. I then touched the head of the snowman with the hard tip to form the eyes and coal on the body. This method is pretty reliable to get uniformly sized, round dots.
I used the skinny end of a toothpick to create the mouth. I dipped the tiny tip into the paint and dotted a curved mouth.
Finally, for the nose, I used the larger end of broken and sanded toothpick dipped into Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint in Terra Cotta. I then painted a pointy nose with the toothpick, and waxed the snowmen with Dixie Belle Big Mama's Butta.

Eye screw hooks were added to finely drilled holes in the top of the snowman's head.
I purchased just 18" of Realeather red suede lace at a local craft shop,
AND, also 18" of toast color.
The suede was tied on as a scarf around the snowman's neck.
Fine jute twine was threaded through the eye screw and tied for hanging on the Christmas tree.
These little snowman are perfect on a small tree!
Pin for later!
