Easy & Inexpensive DIY Gift Idea For A Dog Lover
December 09, 2019
I found this package of four, round galvanized ornaments in the Christmas Craft section of a Hobby Lobby store. I don't think they are available online. They were priced at $3.99, but they were 50% off for the month of November.
Of course I purchased them thinking of semi-homemade ornaments, but that's not what happened!

I decided to team up the ornaments with this 1" x 6" x 6" Cedar Fence Picket from Menard's.
The piece of fence picket board I found in the garage was 29" long. This size worked well.
As usual with these cedar pickets, I first brushed on a coat of Varathane Weathered Wood Accelerator. Next, I brushed on two coats of Fusion Mineral Paint in Champlain. I didn't paint all the way to the edges of the board. I left it unevenly painted. A sponge brush works well for this technique.
This paw stencil is also from Hobby Lobby. I have only used it on one other project.
I laid the largest paw stencil at the top of the dog eared picket.
I stenciled the paw using Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash.
Next, very small holes were made in the ornaments with a drill.
Three of the galvanized ornaments were spaced out between the paw and the board bottom. They were nailed on with very short nails.
A saw tooth hanger was added to the back top of the board.
Tree House round ceramic magnets from Hobby Lobby hold the dog photos to the galvanized ornament.
Here, I painted the magnet top with Fusion Mineral Paint in Champlain and stenciled it with the smallest paw print stencil and Fusion in Ash.
I think I prefer the magnets plain.
These two pugs and a puggle belong to my daughter!
So easy! Put the frames away and display your photos in creative and fun ways.
What a crew!
