I picked up this small decorative oar at the Bemidji, Minnesota, Goodwill last Saturday.
I gave it a makeover!

My makeover plan included this fun Old Sign Stencils Arrow Kit stencil.

*Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary samples. All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.
I wasn't sure that the arrow would work out on my oar, so I did a test stencil.
I taped off one of the stencil's arrow tips, allowing it to fit better on the top end of my oar.
My plan looked like it might work.
I kind of even liked my idea.
In the final stenciling, I will, of course, center the stencil better.
I stenciled the arrow using Fusion Mineral Paint in Champlain, distressed the edges a bit with sandpaper, and waxed the oar with Dixie Belle Big Mama's Butta.
Sawtooth hangers were nailed to the back of the oar.
AND, here is my finished oar/arrow sign, along with my recent fishing rod holder/Lake Sign Project.
Thanks for visiting!
