This one was priced at a dollar! With just a little paint and decoration, this jar can look homemade and hand painted.
First I removed the metal ring at the top of the jar.
There are two very small Phillips head screws that I removed with an eyeglass repair kit screwdriver. The lid had also been stuck down with a bit of glue as well. I sanded the glue down smooth with sandpaper.
I then brushed on a couple of coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Vintage Duck Egg.
I sanded the jar's edges very lightly to distress them.

I chose the cafe transfer from this sheet of rub on transfer designs above. These Redesign by Prima - Classic Vintage Labels are available on Etsy.
Rub on transfers are quite easy to use.
This one fit the jar perfectly.
I pulled the paper backing off the transfer and hovered it over the jar, until I thought I had it centered. Then I laid it down, and started rubbing the top plastic film with the enclosed rectangular stick until the transfer was all stuck down.
I carefully pulled up one end of the plastic film. If any of the transfer was not stuck down, I laid the plastic film back down and rubbed more.
I sprayed the jar with Dixie Belle Easy Peasy Spray Wax, and rubbed it in with a white fiber rag.
I also put the metal ring back on with the tiny screws.

I cut a black chalkboard card stock tag down to fit on the jar.
The butterfly is a white rub on image transfer. A jute string was wound around the jar top twice and tied in the front.
I painted this Dollar General jar sign last year, and decorated it with a stencil versus a rub on transfer. Details on the this version can be found HERE.
Easy, inexpensive and fun decor!
