I found this wooden bottle caddy at Goodwill over Christmastime.
I knew I would never use it as a stadium style bottle carrier, so it needed a makeover.

When I wiped the caddy down with a rag and hot soapy water, some of the redwood stain wiped off on my rag.
I decided I should prime the tote with Dixie Belle Boss. Boss is a stain and odor blocking product. I use it mainly to prevent wood stain or tannins from bleeding through porous paints like chalk paint.
After two coats of Boss, and drying overnight, I brushed on a couple coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Colonel Mustard.
I distressed the edges with 220 grit sandpaper.
I pulled out these sheets of Redesign by Prima - Classic Vintage Labels purchased on Etsy.
I chose these two labels for the ends of my caddy.
I pulled the paper backing off the transfers, centered them on the ends of the caddy, and rubbed the transfer with the enclosed rectangular stick. When they were all stuck down, I removed the clear plastic cover sheet.
I poured a bag of brown shredded paper from Dollar Tree into the caddy bottom.
I found this bag of Easter eggs at a Hobby Lobby store in Bemidji, Minnesota. Easter decor is now 40% off at Hobby Lobby.
I like this upcycled bottle caddy as an Easter egg basket. Especially for these farmhouse style eggs.
My little bunny is cast iron. I have had him for several years.
Easter decor doesn't have to be pastel!
