DIY Farmhouse Spring Decor Ideas and Jar Bead Jewelry

March 08, 2020

This little tart pan and wooden goblet were recent thrift shop finds.

This metal pig was a Christmas tree ornament from Hobby Lobby in 2019.

I removed the jute from the hooks on back and drilled a small hole in the top back of the pig.

My aunt gave me several packages of wooden bead in several sizes.  I used 1/2" and 1" for the projects I am sharing.

(When you click on the bold Amazon, Old Sign Stencils or Dixie Belle Paint Company affiliate links you will be taken to the products I use for this project.  After a quick wash down of the tart tin and wooden goblet, the tart pan was screwed into the bottom stem of the goblet.  The goblet is upside down.

I cut this small transfer off of the larger sheet, and centered it on the goblet, removed the white backing paper, and rubbed the transfer on with the rectangular wooden stick.

I waxed the paint and transfer with Dixie Belle's Best Dang Wax in Clear.

I cut a length of jute twine and tied a small Metal Typed Tokens by Tim Holtz Idea-ology on to one end.  I purchased this package of word tokens several years ago, and still find uses for them.

I taped the short end to the long string, and strung the smaller wooden beads (1/2") onto the jute.  Tape is a necessity to string the jute through the beads.

When I thought my string of beads was long enough to wrap around the goblet, I cut it off, and tied another metal word token on the other end.

My tart tin/wood goblet creation easily holds a spring bird's nest.

Have you made any unfinished wood bead garlands yet?

There are lots of cool bead garland ideas on Pinterest.

I think I like my display piece best with flowers in the tart tin.

One of a kind farmhouse style spring decor!

For the other project, I tied a knot in one end of jute in the back of the pig.  I then added two 1/2" beads.

I continued the garland with 1" beads.  When I thought my garland was long enough, I tucked the other end of the jute through the two small beads.

I put tape on the jute to make it easier to thread and also poked it through with a toothpick.

I tied the two ends in a knot in the back of the pig.

I found this wider mouth jar at the thrift shop recently.  I filled it with vintage, metal kitchen wares.

I added the cover and the piece of jar jewelry I had just made.

  1. Very cute, I love the wooden beads but not easy to get around our town. I found some the other day in our budget store only to get home and put my glasses on to find they were wooden moth balls. Lol pinned.

  2. I love everything about this project so many neat details and that farmhouse green is one of my favorite colors. I've used it a lot - a welcoming color for spring.
