Easy and Decorative Herb Pot Upcycles
March 29, 2020
I recently found these 4" burlap look Pot Sox at our local Menard's for 49 cents each.
If you don't have a local Menard's, they are available online for 49 cents too.
(When you click on the bold Amazon, Old Sign Stencils or Dixie Belle Paint Company affiliate links you will be taken to the products I used for this project. If you order it does not change the price or service at all. As an Amazon Affiliate, Old Sign Stencils Affiliate or Dixie Belle Paint Affiliate, I earn from qualifying purchases.)
I also found these small metal pots at Dollar General for $1 each.
I had these sticky assorted chalkboard labels in my craft stash from other projects.
The stretchy Pot Sox fit the little metal pots perfectly.
I like the galvanized look too but I would have soaked the pots in white vinegar for a bit to dull the shine.

Even though they were self adhesive, they didn't stick to my chalkboard labels very well. I used blue painter's tape to keep them in place while stenciling.
I used a slender stencil brush and Fusion Mineral Paint in Champlain to add the herb names to the labels.
The tape pulled some of the black label tops off, so I barely pressed the tape down.
Even though the chalkboard labels were adhesive backed, I spread some Aleene's Original "Tacky" Glue on the back of the labels too.
I added the labels while the Pot Sox were ON the pots. I put a rubber band around the labels and pot while the glue dried to keep them in place.
Since I didn't have three labels the same size, I chose three assorted ones.
The Pot Sox come in other patterns and colors.
I have small potted faux herbs in my kitchen that I stuck into the Pot Sox pots.
The chives are really potted grasses, but they look like chives.
The three pots fit on this lap tray perfectly for display!
Faux potted flowers could be displayed in the pots with different label stencils, like GROW, BLOOM, etc. It's an easy and inexpensive spring/summer decor idea!
Thanks for visiting!
