I paid $1 for this old window at a garage sale last fall.

I really didn't do much prep to it. I liked the color, a yellowy mustard. I washed it down good with hot soapy Dawn Dish Soap. I also used a used a razor blade scraper to remove some paint on the glass.
Then I cleaned the glass with Windex and paper towel.
I then pulled out the remaining Redesign with Prima Everyday Farmhouse Decor Transfers in the tube.
I just love these decor transfers. I have used several of these on other farmhouse projects.
I cut out the words I wanted to use on my window panes, and laid them in place.
When I peeled the white paper backing off of the transfer, I hovered over my window pane until it was centered. (The transfer sticks down immediately upon touching a glass surface, and there's no moving it.)
You get one shot to get it centered before rubbing it on the glass.
I decided I wanted to add more transfers to window pane two.
I liked the way it turned out.
For the bottom of the window, I chose to add this Spring Shop metal tray from Hobby Lobby. I found it in a Hobby Lobby store at 40% off.
The width was perfect for the bottom of the window.
The only problem was a lip around the top edge of the tray. Laying a couple of paint sticks on the window bottom worked as a shim to even up the tray sides.
The tray was attached to the window bottom with four sheet metal screws. A ratchet wrench and pre-drilled holes made it much easier to get the screws in tight in a tight area.
A sawtooth hanger was added to the window back with screws instead of nails.
I hung the window in my covered patio area.
I placed faux plants on the tray today. It's cold in northern Minnesota!
Just look at the snow in the window glass reflection!
Decor transfers and Hobby Lobby sale items to the farmhouse decor rescue!
