This unfinished picnic basket is one of my Goodwill Black Friday finds in the Twin Cities.
It was in great condition!

It had a little shelf inside to create two layers in the picnic basket. (Update: A reader informed me that this is a pie basket. I didn't know!)

I chose to paint the picnic basket with a can of leftover Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in French Linen.
French Linen was one of my Annie Sloan Favorites. I seldom purchase Annie Sloan paint anymore. I actually prefer the price and the painting/waxing experience with other paints, especially Dixie Belle Paint.
I wanted to give this picnic basket a French vibe, so I pulled out one of my *Old Sign Stencils Grain Sack Stripe stencils, G1.

*Old Sign Stencils has provided me with complimentary samples. All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.
I pounced on the stencil using Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth.
I lightly distressed the grain sack stripe and the top cover of the basket with 220 grit sandpaper.

I chose a Paris design from my Redesign With Prima Vintage Labels decor transfers.
Here is the basket lid with the Paris decor transfer applied with the rectangular stick.
I waxed the basket with Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in Clear with a waxing brush and also a fiber rag.
The Dixie Belle wax worked pretty well on the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint! No streaking.

I will probably keep the basket and use it for storage.
I painted the inside of the basket too. I didn't paint the shelf. I may use it for another project.
Here are other project before and afters from my November, 2019 Finds:
Thanks sooo much for visiting!
