I ran across this garage sale, vintage, maple magazine rack in my shed this week. I also came up with a re-purposing idea.

I washed the magazine holder down with hot, soapy, Dawn dish soap water and a rag, and painted it with two coats of my favorite black, Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Caviar.
After painting the magazine holder, I stenciled it with "Pies ~ Cupcakes" on one side and "Cupcakes ~ Cookies" on the other side of the handle, using my BAKERY stencil from Old Sign Stencils.
I chose Dixie Belle's Sawmill Gravy as stencil my stencil paint.

*Old Sign Stencils has provided me with complimentary samples. All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.
I then distressed the magazine rack's edges with 220 grit sandpaper, and waxed it with Dixie Belle Big Mama's Butta . I used both a wax brush and a fiber rag.
The magazine holder was perfect for stacking and displaying my rolling pin collection.
Side two. My rolling pin display piece would work on the kitchen counter top, a kitchen hutch, or even on top of the fridge!
A fun and easy, farmhouse kitchen project!
Pin for later!
