I found this handmade wooden truck at the thrift shop last week.
I purchased it for $5.

First, I stained the truck cab and trailer using Minwax Wood Finish Penetrating Stain in Provincial and an old tee shirt rag.
I then painted the trailer with Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Barn Red, and the truck cab with Fusion Mineral Paint in Bayberry.
I lightly distressed the truck pieces using 220 grit sandpaper.
This Christmas Trees Stencil from Old Sign Stencils was my favorite from 2018. I used it on many Christmas projects.

*Old Sign Stencils has provided me with complimentary samples. All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.
Here I taped the bottom of the stencil onto the trailer side bottom. I put a small notch in the stencil to accommodate the wheel.
I pounced on the words Pine, Spruce and Fir using Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth.
I darkened the distressed edges of the trailer and cab using Minwax Wood Finish Stain Marker in Provincial, and waxed the pieces with Dixie Belle Big Mama's Butta.
I applied the wax with an INTEX SUPPLY Fiber Rag.
I found these 5 1/2" bottle brush trees at our local Menards.
I removed the plastic bottoms from the trees, and tied the trees on top of the truck trailer using jute twine.
I was careful to not cover up my stenciling with the jute.
I love how my thrift shop truck turned out!
Pin for later!

ReplyDeleteCarlene, I love the truck! My son is a truck driver and I'd love to find one like this (or similar) and decorate it for him. It's a wonderful piece of Christmas decor. Love your idea.
