Dollar Tree Boxes Upcycled As Desk Top Storage Bins

February 05, 2021

I purchased several, and gave two of them a makeover.

I also found this Flower Stencil and Pattern Stencil at Dollar Tree. And you guessed it.  Everything was $1 each.

I painted two of the square boxes with two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth.

I discovered that two of the square patterns were about the same width as the box sides.  Two patterns were a little shorter than the box sides, but with the cover it wouldn't matter.

I taped the stencil as best as I could to the box side and pounced on the stencil with Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Caviar.  Of course, you could use other brands of paints.

I centered the flower stencil on the box, and didn't tape it down.  I held it down with my fingers. Remember, you can always touch up the paint with your base color and re-stencil if you mess up.

I used the black paint on the flower stencil as well.

Here are the painted and stenciled boxes.

I then pulled out two of my Spare Parts Label Holders from Hobby Lobby.  I purchased them at 50% off.

The "nails aren't really nails" so after holes were drilled in the boxes, the label holder is held in place by pulling apart the "nails" included.

Here is the label holder in place.

I printed out words on card stock using Picmonkey, a photo editing service.

I used different patterns on all sides of the pattern box.

Another side.

And the last side.

Dollar Tree has really been expanding its craft section and carrying supplies by Crafters Square.  I have purchased Crafters Square supplies at Hobby Lobby too.
