Decorating Dollar Tree Wood Cutout Easter Eggs
March 11, 2021
I purchased three of these wood Easter egg cutouts at our local Dollar Tree.
See how I decorated them below!

First I painted just the top of the eggs with Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in Drop Cloth.
I used a sponge brush to apply the paint.
I then pulled out this pattern stencil package from Michael's.
These are paper stencils that need to be pressed or punched out like old paper dolls. Be very careful so you don't rip the stencil punching them out. With caution, I have used some of these stencils several times.
These are the three stencils that I chose from the package, checks, wedding ring quilt pattern, and I think a four leaf pattern.
I taped the checked stencil onto the egg, and pounced on the check stencil with Dixie Belle Paint in Caviar.
After the first stencil coat was dry, I pounced on another coat. Pouncing works best on these paper stencils. (I don't recommend swirling on the paint.)
I waxed the eggs with Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in clear.
Next I stamped three Dollar General Kraft tags with a bunny stamp and Ranger ink pad, both from Hobby Lobby.
I replaced the thin jute hangers with my thicker jute, and added the bunny tags.
My eggs are farmhouse style, neutral eggs, but this idea could certainly be used with spring pastels.
I like how all three turned out.
Which one is your favorite?
I'm leaning towards the flower or four leaf pattern.
I hope you are enjoying my dollar store upcycles!
