Thrifted Perpetual Calendar Repurposed As A Letter Board Bible Verse Sign
April 02, 2021
I found this wooden, perpetual calendar at a Goodwill shop in the Twin Cities. Hand painted wood pieces for the months, holidays, and weekdays are in the baggie.
I just repurposed it for the second time, because the truth being told, the first project was not very popular on my blog or Pinterest. I couldn't sell it either.

Details from both projects follow:
I removed the top three wood sliders.
The third long slider was warped and the day pieces did not slide in very easily. My husband straightened it out, and added another nail.
After wiping the calendar down with hot, soapy, Dawn Dish Soap water and a rag, I brushed on a couple of coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth. I used a sponge brush.
I then lightly distressed the calendar's edges with 100 grit sandpaper.
I found this galvanized metal Cross at Hobby Lobby. The Crosses are no longer available online but may still be in stock at the stores.
After waxing the calendar with Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in Clear, the Cross was nailed onto the top, center of the calendar.
This is how project one ended up! It was a wall hymnal board, like at church, where you could see the day's hymnal pages. I used to look in the hymnal right away to see if we would be singing any of my favorites.
Project two begins here:
I removed the square wooden numbers from the board, and painted them with more Dixie Belle Paint in Drop Cloth.
I pulled out my one inch Momenta Adhesive Alphabet Stencils. I don't think this stencil set is available any longer.
I centered the stencils on my squares and swirled on Dixie Belle Paint in Caviar using a fine tip stencil brush.
I stenciled letters on both sides.
Thrifted perpetual wooden calendar project two became a letter board.
Not just any letter board,
A Bible verse letter board!
I have more numbers to paint and stencil for more options!
Thanks for visiting! Have a Blessed Easter!
