An Easy DIY Fern Stand From A Thrift Shop Find
June 03, 2021
I think this was a candle stand that may have had a glass part too. I found it at the thrift shop a few years ago and just ran across it in my shed.
I gave it a quick and easy repurpose!

After wiping all the dust off the holder, I spray painted it with two coats of Rust-Oleum Chalked Spray Paint in Charcoal.
I hung it on the clothesline with an S hook to spray paint the bottom!
I sealed the chalk paint with two coats of Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Multi Purpose Spray Paint in Matte Clear.
I originally thought I would use a terracotta pot in the candleholder but I had trouble finding one that fit, so I pulled out one of my galvanized Norah Vases. This one is 5" x 5". It fit into the lantern shape perfectly.
I did not drill holes in the vase as the plant stand will be under my covered patio. I will have to be careful not to overwater.
I planted a small Boston Fern in the Norah Vase.
I found mine at Menards for $5.49.
Ferns do so well on my covered patio.
It was a super easy makeover!
This fern stand repurposed from a birdcage stand is another recent project for the covered patio.
