Vintage Metal Typing Table Makeover
June 22, 2021
This old metal typing table was a 2019 find at the Littlefork Citywide Rummage Sales. I paid $1 for it.
I found it still kicking around in my shed this spring and decided to give it a makeover for my covered patio.

The table had already been spray painted an orange red on the top sides, but the bottom was still original green.
I washed it down with Dawn Dish Soap water, and then brushed on two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Caviar. I painted the top and bottom sides.
I pulled out a French Flower Market stencil from Maison de Stencils that I have had a couple years now.
I taped it to the tabletop and pounced on the stencil with Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth.
Here's the finished top stencil. I just love Dixie Belle Chalk Paint, especially the color Caviar.
I had this stencil in my stencil bin from Michael's. I have used parts of it before on other projects. There are 7 pieces.
First, I centered the stencil vertically and horizontally and then filled in the top and bottom space with additional stenciled script lines.
I don't know French, so not sure if any of it makes sense!
I sealed the paint and stencils using two coats of Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Multi Purpose Clear Matte Spray.
I will be using the table on my covered patio this summer, between my Adirondack chairs.
I will be sharing the rest of my 2021 covered patio decor very soon.
I think the old typing table adds vintage charm to covered patio!
Thanks for visiting!

I can’t believe you got that for $1.00! Great repurpose!!
ReplyDeleteI can’t believe it either! It was a great buy!
DeleteCarlene,
ReplyDeleteI just love your makeover. And I love seeing old furniture made into something new and useable! What a great job you've done. I'd like to sit in your Adirondacks and sip a glass of tea!
I sip hot or iced tea there all the time. It’s always shady and I have a ceiling fan over the patio too! Thanks!
