Today I am sharing EVEN MORE Junk Garden Before & Afters. I am so happy that these posts are popular because I LOVE SHARING my flower gardens.
Above is a coco liner deck railing basket of succulents at planting time.
This is the first year that I have purchased the variegated Mezoo vine. I love it.
Here is the left side of my junk garden border at planting time. The red border lilies were just coming into bloom.
In early July, the red lilies are done blooming and the pink Asiatic lilies have begun blooming.
The marigolds are filling out nicely.
Moving further right, more of the border at planting time.
AND now in early July.
In most years, my tall stepladder was placed here, in the middle of my border, but this year I placed the old windmill there.
I'm pretty happy with the way the yellow Marguerite daisies have filled in under the windmill. The Shasta daisies are just about to bloom in the center right. The Stella d'Oro daylily has many blossoms at this time.
This is the right side of the border. I moved the stepladder over into this area, and the right side just got too congested.
I pruned some of the globe thistle stalks, at ground level, away from the ladder and away from the tub with the wire basket. I pulled out the nasturiums in the tub, and replaced them with a Menards combo basket of purple verbena, yellow calibrachoa, and red petunias. It had to be done to keep air flowing and sun reaching all the plants.
The laundry tub with Menards combo basket.
This shady area, shortly after planting, has upright fuchsia, wax begonias, and coleus.
In early July, the annuals are filling in, and so far, avoiding any deer damage. (I am spraying almost nightly with deer sprays).
Here are two black cherry supertunia plants in a galvanized bucket screwed to an old wagon board at planting time.
Here are the supertunias in early July.
Red/orange impatiens in coffeepots, at planting time, on my stenciled treehouse ladder.
The impatiens in early July!
A scrub bucket of Mezoo vine at planting time.
The potting sink at planting time with my stenciled garden window screen sign.
I just love the calliope red zonal geraniums.
A junky vignette on the back side of the deck at planting time.
The swingtime fuchsia, snapdragons, and pink wax begonias are growing!
My lantana topiary and bucket of lantana and duranta plants.
I am still so pleased with my topiary purchase.
This laundry tub of solar sweet potato vine and orange black eyed Susan vines at planting time.
Last year, my black eyed Susan vines seemed to be too much vine and very little blossoms. Not sure if deadheading helps or not.
Thanks so much for visiting!
Sharing is caring
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see your garden in its progression from the time you planted to its present form! You are so inspiring with your projects - hubby loves to decorate and re-arrange in our junk garden so we will be getting more oohs and aahs at our annual garden tour with friends. Will definitely share this post with him and another gardening friend who's into junk/flea market gardening. Not everyone appreciates but the ones who do absolutely LOVE and ENJOY them!
ReplyDelete.......... AND, thank you for sharing and identifying plants!!!
Thanks Dodie! I know it’s not for everyone but it sure makes me smile!
DeleteI am so smitten with every part of your "junk garden" displays. I have so many ideas for doing similar but have to contend with the opinions of my daughter who lives with me and vegetable gardens in my back yard. Argh! Oh, well, no situation is perfect, right? Anyway, I love looking at your vignettes. Wish I could see them in person!
ReplyDeleteMy kids aren't big antique or junk fans, but my neighbors are!
